Select bushings by vehicle make, model, year, and the specific mounting location (cab mount, control arm, sway bar link, etc.); check OEM part numbers or vehicle fitment guides and choose material (rubber for comfort, polyurethane for durability) based on driving needs

Some bushings are straightforward to replace with common hand tools and a press or vise, but those requiring body alignment, rusted bolts, or hydraulic presses are better handled by a shop to ensure proper torque and fitment

Rubber bushings provide quieter, softer ride isolation and more forgiveness, while polyurethane bushings are firmer, offer longer life and better handling control but can transmit more noise and vibration

Lifespan varies widely—commonly 3–10 years—depending on material, driving conditions, exposure to heat/oils/road salt, and load cycles; regular inspection for cracks, excessive movement, or deformation helps determine replacement timing

Look for increased vibration or noise, misaligned panels or doors, clunking when driving over bumps, uneven tire wear, or visible cracking and squashing of the bushing material

Replacing like-for-like bushings generally does not require alignment, but switching to stiffer aftermarket bushings or replacing bushings that determine suspension geometry may necessitate an alignment check and torque verification
