Undercoating can obscure fasteners and welds, so it should be applied in a way that allows mechanics to access service points; inform technicians about coated areas and remove or avoid coating critical inspection points if required by local inspection rules

Cost depends on product type, quantity, and whether you apply it yourself or hire a shop; consumer undercoating products are available across a wide range with many options under $50 for small cans, while professional full-vehicle applications are typically more expensive, and average product prices in this category tend to be in the low-to-mid hundreds for higher-volume or specialty kits
