Diaper Liners

Diaper liners are thin, disposable or reusable sheets placed between the baby’s skin and the diaper to catch solid waste, protect the diaper from staining, and make cleanup easier; they are commonly used with cloth and some hybrid diapers

Choose disposable liners for convenience and easy disposal of solids; choose reusable liners (usually made of cotton, bamboo, or fleece) for lower long-term cost and less waste; consider absorption, fit, and compatibility with your diaper system

Common materials include cotton, bamboo, hemp, and polyester fleece; natural fibers like bamboo and hemp are breathable and absorbent while fleece stays dry against the skin but wicks moisture into the diaper

A properly fitted liner should not significantly reduce absorbency; fleece liners wick moisture to the diaper while thin natural-fiber liners may add minimal absorption; ensure liners lie flat and are compatible with your diaper’s closure and shape to avoid gaps that could cause leaks

Rinse or shake off solids into the toilet, store soiled liners in a dry pail or wet bag, then wash with your regular diaper laundry using the manufacturer’s recommended water temperature; avoid fabric softeners and chlorine bleach unless specified safe for the material

Many liners are suitable for newborns, but for sensitive skin choose hypoallergenic, chemical-free natural fibers and check product specs for certifications or material details; always test a new material on a small area of skin if your baby has known sensitivities

Disposable liner packs and reusable liner sets vary; expect individual reusable liners to be part of a $20–$60 range for multi-packs while disposable liners can be economical per-use; factor in wash frequency, replacement rate, and whether you prefer single-use convenience or reusable savings
