Exfoliate gently before tanning to remove dead skin for more even color, moisturize daily after exposure to prolong the tan, and avoid hot baths or harsh scrubs that accelerate fading

Visible results can appear after a single UV session or with immediate bronzers in lotions; natural tans from UV exposure generally deepen over several days and often last one to three weeks depending on skin type and aftercare

Use face-specific formulas when possible because body tanning products may be heavier and more likely to clog pores; if using a body product, choose a light, non-comedogenic option and apply sparingly

Tanning oils and lotions commonly range from budget options under $20 to premium formulas above $50, with many mid-range products around the $25–$40 mark
