Choose based on available enclosure space and desired bass response: 8-10 inch subs work for tighter spaces and punchy bass, 12-inch subs balance output and space, and 15-inch subs produce deeper, louder low frequencies but need larger enclosures

Match the subwoofer's RMS power rating to the amplifier's continuous (RMS) output at the same impedance; aim to have the amp deliver 80–120% of the subwoofer RMS for safe, reliable performance without distortion

Sealed enclosures provide tighter, more accurate bass and take less space, while ported enclosures increase low-frequency output and efficiency at the expense of larger size and looser transient response

Sensitivity indicates how loudly a subwoofer will play for a given power—higher sensitivity needs less power—while frequency response shows the usable bass range; use both to compare likely output and low-end extension between models

Measure trunk or enclosure space, plan wiring runs and fuse placement for the amplifier, ensure proper grounding, and account for ventilation and secure mounting to avoid rattles and overheating

Avoid overpowering or clipping the amp, keep the enclosure sealed and free from moisture, check speaker mounts and wiring periodically, and use appropriate fusing and thermal protection on the amplifier
