Storage need depends on camera count, resolution, frame rate, compression (H.264/H.265), and retention time; as a rough guide, one 1080p camera at 15–20 fps uses about 10–20 GB per day, so multiply by camera count and desired days of retention to size HDDs or plan for multi-terabyte drives
