Lifespan varies by material and exposure; standard polyethylene films last 1–5 years while UV-stabilized or heavier multi-layer films can last 5–10 years or longer. Extend life by choosing UV-stabilized products, keeping the surface clean, avoiding sharp contact with frame edges, and removing snow or debris promptly

Use proper fasteners such as channel systems, batten strips, or spring clips to distribute tension and avoid tearing; pull the film evenly to remove wrinkles, leave ventilation openings, and cut relief slits at corners if needed. Work with an assistant for large sheets and wear gloves and eye protection when trimming
