Pre-lit trees save setup time and ensure even lighting but may be harder to replace if lights fail; unlit trees let you choose bulb type and arrangement and can be more durable long-term; consider whether integrated lights are replaceable and if the tree has removable light strings

Dust branches regularly with a soft brush or use a low-suction vacuum attachment, avoid direct prolonged sunlight to prevent fading, disassemble or compress according to manufacturer instructions, and store in a dry, cool place in a protective bag or box to prevent deformation and pests

Check that the base or stand is sturdy and compatible with the tree’s height and weight, ensure the tree sits level on your floor, avoid placing near heat sources or open flames, and verify any electrical components meet safety standards and have intact cords and connectors

Some artificial trees are labeled for outdoor use with UV- and weather-resistant materials; if using an indoor model outdoors, take precautions like keeping it sheltered from rain and direct sun and bringing it inside during severe weather to prevent damage
