Weight is measured in GSM (grams per square meter): 300–400 GSM is lightweight and quick-drying, 400–600 GSM balances absorbency and plushness, and above 600 GSM is very dense and luxurious but slower to dry

Wash new washcloths before first use and avoid fabric softeners, which can reduce absorbency; tumble dry on low to medium heat or line dry to preserve fibers. Use warm water and a mild detergent, and wash similar colors together to prevent dye transfer

A practical rotation is 3–7 washcloths per person so each can air dry between uses; replace washcloths every 6–12 months or sooner if they show thinning, persistent stains, or odor that won’t wash out

Organic cotton and OEKO-TEX certification ensure reduced chemical exposure and safer dyeing processes, which can be important for sensitive skin; certifications add assurance about production standards but may increase cost
