Box Mailers

For documents and flat items choose slim rigid or padded mailers with low to medium wall strength; for bulky or heavier items select corrugated box mailers with double-wall construction and dimensions that allow 1–2 inches of packing material around the item

Estimate monthly shipment count and compare unit prices across pack sizes—larger bulk packs lower cost per unit; consider average category prices (many office-grade box mailers are sold in packs or by the case) and factor in storage space and expected return rates

Prioritize corrugation grade (single vs double wall), interior cushioning (bubble-lined or foam), secure closure type (self-seal strip or tuck-flap with tape), and water-resistant or kraft liners for moisture protection

Common sizes correspond to document, small, medium, and large boxes; carriers typically impose dimensional and weight limits, so measure length+girth for oversize rules and keep within the carrier’s published weight tiers to avoid extra fees

Use appropriately sized mailers, add sufficient internal cushioning to prevent movement, reinforce seams and corners, use clear labeling and tracking, and choose mailers rated for the typical handling and weight of your products

Look for kraft or corrugated mailers made from recycled content that are curbside-recyclable, avoid mixed-material liners that hinder recycling, and consider reusable or compostable padded mailers certified by recognized standards

Store flat in a dry, temperature-controlled area away from direct sunlight and moisture, keep them off the floor on pallets or shelving, and avoid stacking heavy loads on top to prevent crushing and deformation
