Laser Printer Paper

Choose paper weight (measured in lbs or gsm) based on use: 20 lb (75–90 gsm) is standard for everyday printing; 24–32 lb (90–120 gsm) works for brochures and covers. Brightness (scale ~1–100) affects contrast and color pop—higher brightness (above ~90) gives sharper text and more vivid graphics

For reduced show-through choose higher opacity papers and smoother finishes; uncoated, high-opacity papers or laser-specific coated stock minimize toner penetration. Heavier weights (24 lb/90 gsm and up) also reduce show-through, especially for double-sided printing

Use paper labeled for laser printers or multipurpose paper rated for laser use to avoid issues: laser-compatible papers are formulated to withstand fuser heat and prevent wrinkling, melting, or excessive toner adherence. Avoid glossy inkjet-only papers, which may not tolerate laser fuser temperatures

Store paper in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity; keep it in its original ream wrap until use and store flat to prevent curl or moisture absorption. Ideal storage is at stable indoor conditions (about 20–25°C / 68–77°F and moderate humidity)

Standard 8.5×11 in (A4) 20 lb/75–90 gsm paper works for reports and everyday documents; use 24–32 lb (90–120 gsm) or heavier for flyers and presentation materials. For labels and envelopes, choose paper specifically designed for laser printers and within your printer's recommended weight range
