Measure overall firearm length including attached optics and muzzle devices, then choose a case with at least 1–2 inches of extra internal length; check listed interior dimensions and whether the case is single- or double-rifle to ensure proper fit

Soft cases protect against scratches, light bumps, dust, and moisture with padded or foam-lined construction, but they offer less impact and crush resistance than hard cases and are not recommended where strong external force or heavy-duty waterproofing is needed

Look for durable outer fabrics like 600D–1000D nylon or polyester, multiple layers of foam padding (EVA or closed-cell foam), reinforced stitching, and protective nose and butt padding; water-resistant coatings and welded or sealed zippers add weather resistance

Transport rules vary by jurisdiction and context; generally, many regions require firearms to be unloaded and encased during transport—check local, state, and federal laws and any venue or carrier policies for specific requirements

Consider features like accessory pockets, MOLLE webbing, sling or carry straps, lockable zipper pulls, removable dividers, and padded stock restraints, as they improve organization and secure transport

Empty the case, brush out debris, spot-clean fabric with mild soap and water, let it air dry fully before storage, and periodically treat fabric with a water-repellent spray if recommended by the manufacturer

Soft rifle cases commonly range from budget options under $50 to higher-quality models over $100; higher-priced cases typically offer thicker padding, heavier-duty fabrics, better hardware, and extra features, but functional basic protection is available at lower price points
