Adhesive Transfer Tape

Adhesive transfer tape is a carrierless, double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive supplied on a release liner; unlike foam double-sided tapes it adds virtually no thickness, and unlike adhesive sheets it typically comes in narrow rolls for precise application

Match tape properties to your needs: choose adhesive type (acrylic for long-term, rubber for immediate high tack), thickness for gap-filling, liner type for dispensing, and temperature/chemical resistance based on operating conditions

Clean surfaces of dust, oil, and moisture with isopropyl alcohol or a manufacturer-recommended cleaner, allow to dry, and apply firm pressure during bonding; porous or contaminated surfaces may require primers for reliable adhesion

Many acrylic transfer tapes tolerate continuous service temperatures from about -20°C to 80°C (-4°F to 176°F) and short peaks higher, while rubber-based tapes usually have lower temperature resistance; check product datasheets for specific temperature and UV/chemical resistance

Position the tape and liner, remove liner while pressing adhesive onto the substrate, then apply firm uniform pressure with a roller or squeegee to ensure full contact and reduce air entrapment

Removability depends on adhesive formulation and dwell time: acrylic permanent tapes are difficult to remove and may leave residue or damage delicate finishes, while removable or low-tack transfer tapes are designed to peel cleanly; test on a small area first

Transfer tape is commonly sold in rolls from a few millimeters to several inches wide and core lengths from a few meters to tens of meters; prices vary with adhesive type, width, and performance, with many options available in budget to professional price ranges
