Average pricing across common construction rulers tends to fall in the lower to mid-hundreds depending on length and features

Choose rulers with clear graduations matching your required precision—1/16" or 1 mm increments are typical for general construction, while precision layout may require 1/64" or finer metric markings. Etched or laser-engraved markings resist wear better than printed scales, maintaining accuracy over time

Keep rulers clean and dry to prevent corrosion, wipe off debris after use, avoid dropping or bending metal rulers, and store flat or hung to prevent warping. For folding rulers, periodically lubricate hinges and check alignment; for precision tools, recalibrate or compare against a known standard if accuracy is critical

Avoid placing rulers directly in contact with cutting blades or grinders; use rulers as guides only when rated for that purpose and clamp them securely to prevent kickback.
