Corrugated packaging pads are flat sheets or pads made from corrugated fiberboard used to separate, support, or cushion items inside boxes; use them to add structural support, prevent product shifting, or protect fragile items during stacking and transit

Select thickness and flute type based on the weight and fragility of the contents and required stacking strength: thicker pads and larger flutes (e.g., C or BC flutes) provide more cushioning and compression resistance, while thinner pads and smaller flutes suit lightweight or low-clearance items

Look for standard sheet sizes that match your box dimensions and consider customizable options such as die-cut shapes, perforations, scoring for folding, or extra coatings for moisture resistance to fit specific product geometries and handling needs

Most corrugated pads are made from recyclable corrugated fiberboard and can be recycled with paper/cardboard recycling streams; many are also made from partially recycled content, but verify any moisture-resistant coatings or adhesives that may affect recyclability

Use one or more pads to support weight-bearing contact points, separate layers, and prevent vertical movement: place pads between stacked items, under heavy corners, or on top of products to distribute load evenly; testing with a sample pack helps determine the optimal count

Check board weight (lbs per 1000 ft), edge crush test (ECT) or burst strength ratings for compression resistance, uniformity of flute profile, clean cuts at die edges, and consistent bonding between layers for durability

Store pads flat in a dry, ventilated area away from prolonged moisture and direct sunlight, avoid heavy stacking that can deform flutes, and handle with care to prevent crushed edges or creases that reduce protective properties
