Select grit by desired finish—coarse (40–80) for stock removal, medium (80–120) for smoothing, fine (150+) for finishing; choose diameter and thickness to match workpiece geometry and tool clearance; confirm the hub or sanding mandrel/arbor size matches your die grinder, drill, or spindle

Backings include cloth for durability and heat resistance, paper for flexibility and lower cost, and film for consistent thickness; cloth is best for heavy use, paper for light finishing, and film for precision work

Check the flap wheel's maximum RPM rating and ensure your drill or grinder's no-load speed does not exceed it; also verify that the hub/arbor diameter and collet/chuck type match your power tool

Lifespan depends on grit, abrasive material, pressure, speed, and workpiece hardness; using correct grit, moderate pressure, and proper speed extends life—replace when flaps wear down, lose shape, or performance declines

Wear eye protection, gloves, and a dust mask; secure the workpiece, avoid excessive pressure or side loading, keep guards in place, and inspect wheels for damage before use

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and chemicals, keep them flat or on a shelf to avoid deformation, and retain original packaging to protect edges and flaps
