Insulated terminals reduce shorting risk and provide strain relief for exposed connections, making them better for general-purpose and consumer electronics; non-insulated terminals are suitable where space is tight or for soldered/joined connections requiring lower electrical resistance

Use a proper crimping tool sized for the terminal type rather than pliers; strip the wire to the specified length, insert fully into the barrel, then apply a firm crimp. For critical or vibration-prone installs, add solder or heat-shrink tubing as recommended

Make sure the terminal is the correct size, crimp securely, and use terminals with appropriate plating for the environment; where moisture or salt exposure is expected, use sealed or heat-shrink insulated terminals and consider dielectric grease on connections
