Budget options under $50 typically use lighter-weight nylon and simpler designs; premium holsters often cost more and use thicker leather or reinforced composites, more organized pockets, and higher-grade hardware. Decide based on frequency of use: occasional users can choose economical models while daily professionals may benefit from more durable premium builds

Measure your belt width and thickness and compare to the holster's specified belt slot or clip size; also measure tool handles and lengths to confirm they fit the pouch dimensions. If wearing over a tool belt or with bulky clothing, allow extra clearance for thickness

Use holsters with secure retention (snaps, straps, molded pockets) and position heavy tools low and balanced to prevent tipping; avoid loose tools that can fall. For high-risk work, consider additional tethering or tool lanyards designed for fall prevention
